MUNICPAL ORDINANCE NO. 2009- 06
AN ORDINANCE DECLARING JUNE 15 AND EVERY YEAR THEREAFTER AS BANANA (SABA) FESTIVAL IN DINGALAN, AURORA AND APPROPRIATING
FUNDS THEREOF.

WHEREAS, Dingalan known as the Southeast Paradise of Aurora Province is an
Agricultural land and agriculture is one source of its livelihood;
WHEREAS, with the studies and experiments done by the administration through the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist we bagged as the Outstanding Magsasakang Siyentista ng Saba Production Central Luzon Agriculture Resources Research and Development Consortium (CLARRDEC) Region III and Provincial Outstanding FITS Center;
WHEREAS, its high time for the municipality to concentrate in growing banana particularly saba for the following reasons:
Grown all throughout the municipality, production area covers 1068.7 hectares with available area for expansion;
Year round production and availability;
Adaptable to local condition;
Planting materials available locally;
Suitable for intercropping;
High potential yield;
Support from partner - agencies on technology promotion;
Increasing demand for local consumption
Market for processed product open to local and export;
Generates employment with more than 500 farmers directly involved in banana farming.
NOW THEREFORE, on unanimous accord of the members of the Sangguniang Bayan:
BE IT ORDAINED by Sangguniang Bayan in session assembled:
Section 1. Title This Ordinance shall be known as banana (Saba) Festival in
Dingalan, Aurora every June 15 and year thereafter;
Section 2. Declaration of Policy It shall be the declared policy of the municipality to help, assist and protect Banana (Saba) Farmers and toward this end, the municipal government shall initiate programs and fund appropriated to co responsible for high yielding result of production that will lead to economic upliftment of our farmers;
Section 3. Implementing Rules The office of the Municipal Mayor shall be the lead Office to implement this Ordinance.
Section 4. Funding An amount commensurate to the submitted approved plans and programs for the purpose shall be appropriated in every Annual Budget.
Section 5. Effectivity This Ordinance shall take effect upon its approval.
