The ASEAN Secretariat through the Tourism Quality Working Group is seeking nominations for the ASEAN Green Hotel Award to be given out during the Philippine hosting of the ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) in January 2016.
Now on its 7th year, the ASEAN Green Hotel Award is a form of appreciation and recognition given to hotel industry players whose operations are based on environmentally – friendly principles and adopts energy conservation measures to achieve sustainable tourism.
The search is open to all DOT-accredited accommodation stakeholders.
Aspiring accommodation enterprises need to meet the following major criteria and requirements in order to qualify for the award:
1. Environmental policy and action for hotel operation;
2. Use of green products;
3. Collaboration with the community and local organizations;
4. Human resource development;
5. Solid waste management;
6. Energy efficiency;
7. Water efficiency;
8. Air quality management (indoor and outdoor);
9. Noise pollution control;
10. Wastewater treatment and management; and
11. Toxic and chemical substance disposal management.
Submission of list of nominees, with completed checklist and documents to prove compliance with the ASEAN standards, will be submitted to DOT Makati on March 30, 2015 thru email at [email protected], copy furnished Ms. Marissa Claustro at [email protected] for evaluation and shortlisting.
An ocular inspection of the pre-selected nominees shall be conducted by a Green Audit Team for validation. After due deliberation of the validation results, the shortlisted list of nominees will be submitted to the ASEAN Secretariat.
