A. TAKUMI BUTAI
Location: LR Sebastian Compound Malagapas
Description: The shrine is located at L.R. Sebastian Compound, Malagapas. It was named
after Takumi, the Provincial Commander of the Japanese Imperial Army for the Empire
Province of Cotabato during the Second World War. Upon Takumi's request, part of his
ashes were enshrined in Cotabato City, the place he considered his second home. August,
the Japanese all Souls month ushers Japanese national's visit in homage to their hero.

B. TAMONTAKA CHURCH
Location: Barangay Tamontaka, Cotabato City, one hundred meters from the National
Highway.
Description: Built in 1872 of Spanish Architecture. It is the oldest church in the city and the
relic of the living past.

A. PC HILL
Location: This hill is basically located in the heart of the city.
Description: A stone fort towering over the city which a height of 90 ft., now houses the
Cotabato City Internal Defense Command. This is Cotabato City famous landmark. This
historic hill served as a watch tower for the natives in their defensive drive to detect and
repel assaults by enemies. From this hill, one can have panoramic view of the city and the
Rio Grande de Mindanao.

B. KUTANG BATO CAVE
Location: It is located at the foot of PC Hill. The cave is reputed to be seven kilometers
long and of formidable, solid rock. Bagua entrance cor. Mabini St. / S.K. Pendatun Ave. 557
meters Prov'l Capitol Entrance / from the gate of PC Hill - 12 meters Caverna Espanol from
the gate of PC Hill - 152 meters.
Description: The only cave in the country that is right in the heart of the city. It's various
entrances are all within the city and is a rarity that can only be had in the 'Heart of
Mindanao'. This cave was also the source of the city's present name KUTA means FORT
and WATO means STONE. Hence, the name 'fort of stone' which later on became
Cotabato. It's wall of white, beige and brownish shade glitters in the dark and echoes a
colorful past dating back to the days when no foreign foot yet trampled upon this land. The
cave had given sanctuary to the natives when the Spaniards tried to convert them into the
Castillan faith and has served the purpose when Filipino guerillas fought the invading force
of Japanese Imperial army during the World War II. When the Japanese firepower proved
superior to that of the natives, the cave was then used as an armory and even a garrison.
There are four entrances, namely : the provincial Capitol Cave, Bagua Cave, Caverna
Espanol and the Kuweba ni Satur.

C. RIO GRANDE DE MINDANAO
Location: It is along the city wharf about 410 meters from corner Sinsuat Avenue and
Quezon Avenue.
Description: The second largest river in the Philippines and the longest in Mindanao
estimated to be 182 kilometers long and 96 meters wide. Water sports and boat racing
are the popular attractions of the river, usually held to coincide with the Shariff
Kabunsuan Festival, Guinakit Festival of Maguindanao Province, ARMM and the Feast of
Penafrancia.

D. TIMAKO HILL
Location: It is located in the Southwestern part of the city adjacent to the entrance of Rio
Grande de Mindanao.
Description: The hill overlooks the Illana Bay and is protected by Bongo Island. The place
itself is a good resort with its blue waters, sandy white beach, and is ideal for camping,
skin diving, snorkeling, boating, fishing and other water s ports. It also offers nature lovers
an ideal place for trekking, bird/white monkey watching and other leisure activity.
MAN - MADE
A. COTABATO CITY HALL
Location: It is found in the heart of the city fronting the city plaza.
Description: A century old structure which houses almost all of the city government offices.
It showcases a unique architectural design depicting the Muslim Art.
B. OUR LADY OF LOURDES GROTTO
Location: The Grotto is located along the National Highway at Datu Odin Sinsuat,
Maguindanao.
Description: The Grotto itself is a replica of Our Lady of Lourdes Grotto in France. The
compound is equipped with ideal retreat house for recollection and seminars, a mini zoo
and children'park.

C. AUTONOMOUS REGION IN MUSLIM MINDANAO (ARMM) COMPOUND
Location: Gov. Gutierrez Avenue, Cotabato City
Description: It houses the office of ARMM Regional Governor, Regional Legislative
Assembly Cultural Center, The Regional Museum and most of the Regional Offices of
Region XII and ARMM. The compound showcases unique blend of modern and Muslim
Architecture.
