The Department of Tourism - Region III interposes a vigorous objection to the establishment of a resort facility inside the caldera of Mt. Pinatubo by the same Korean investors that operate the Mt. Pinatubo Spa Town in Sta. Juliana, Capas, Tarlac. Said resort houses a concrete "convenience store", a paved viewing deck which may endanger the lives of trekkers due to soil erosion at the bottom of the deck, and a fully landscaped park close to the beach area of the caldera lake just below the viewing deck including concrete steps to make life easy for the Korean tourists while doing "water sports" like kayaking or swimming at the lake. Now, it has been announced that tourists to the volcano will be charged P250 each effective effective September 2009 as "maintenance fee" for the caldera park. Again, this structure was built without proper consultation with the proper authorities.
The photos here have been posted to show the stupidity of the Korean investors by ruining the natural landscape of Mt. Pinatubo which is the sacred abode of the deity of our native Aetas.
