The Philippines is set to chair and host the ASIA PACIFIC ECONOMIC COOPERATION SUMMIT in 2015.
The APEC is a group of 21-member economies that meet regularly to support sustainable growth and prosperity in the Asia Pacific region. Chairmanship of the summit involves actually hosting and chairing a series of meetings from the Senior Officials Meetings (SOMs) to the APEC Ministerial Meetings (AMMs) all the way up to the APEC Economic Leaders Meeting (AELM). These meetings will run from December 2014 to November 2015.
The APEC National Organizing Council (NOC) has identified nine (9) potential meeting sites (Metro Manila, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo, Clark, Subic, Tagaytay, Boracay and Bacolod) including tentative schedules and requirements needed in terms of hotel accommodation, convention facilities, transportation, security details, as well as criteria for host venue pitch.
Please wait for further development on the final selection of host venues by the national organizing committee.
Some 3,000 to 4,000 delegates will arrive for the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting in November 2015 plus 300 - 400 CEO's (20-50 per economy) including 300 - 400 members of the press. Sectoral meetings will take place prior to AELM (Senior Officials' Meeting, Human Resources Ministerial Meeting, Women and the Economy Summit, Sectoral meetings on Energy, Food Security, SMEs, Science and Technology, Transportation, Oceans, and Finance).
A huge challenge to whichever venue / destination will be chosen!
