El Nido - Taytay Managed Resource Protected Area was proclaimed as a protected area by virtue of Presidential Proclamation signed by President Joseph Estrada on October 8, 1998. It is one of the priority areas of the National Integrated Protected Areas Programme.
It has an approximately area of 90, 321 hectares, of which 36, 018 hectares of its area is terrestrial and the 54, 303 hectares is for the marine components. The area boasts of diverse ecosystems such as rainforest, mangroves, white sand beaches, coral reefs and karst limestone cliffs.
El Nido is rich with variety of species of marine life. Manta rays are commonly found in the area together with countless varieties of fish. When in season, divers may see one of the world’s rarest marine mammal, the sea cow known locally as dugong.

How to get there
430 kms. southwest of Manila and about 238 kms. northwest of Puerto Princesa City, El Nido can be reached fastest and most direct from Manila. The flight takes approximately one hour and thirty minutes and lands directly at El Nido Airport. Flight reservations may be made through El Nido Resorts. Island Transvoyager Inc. (ITI) flies daily from/ to Manila and SEAIR and Asian Spirit thrice a week via Busuanga. Boat trips to Liminangcong are available four times a week via WG&A;, Atienza Shipping Lines and MV Asuncion Lines.
