This week is a period of boisteroue revelry in Zamboanga del Norte(ZaNorte) since the grand opening of “Hudayka ZaNorte 2010” last June 4, 2010.
Hudyaka ZaNorte id a week-long celebration participated by municipalities and component cities of the province. “Hudyaka” which means revelry is celebrated annually by the people of ZaNorte every June with venue rotated among the component cities and municipalities. This year’s event is hosted for the second time by the City of Dapitan, the Shrine City due to Dr. Jose P. Rizal’s historic legacy to the place.
The grand opening showcased a parade of colourful floats depicting different themes and motifs representing municipalities and offices all competing for a prize. Officials in their cowboy attires led by the charmingly handsome Honorable Governor Rolando E. Yebes of the Province of Zamboanga del Norte with Regional Director James Elridge C. Adraincem of the Department of Tourism Region 9 are the forefront of the attraction.
It was a sight to behold for residents and visitors flocking the roadside to witness the display of artistry and craftsmanship highlighting an array of beautiful ladies vying the for Miss ZaNorte 2010. All were in their festive mood as performers in shimmering and varied costumes dance to their routines.
The parade was followed by a short program and concluded with a spectacular show of skyrocketing fireworks. That marked the start of a week packed with activities until Hudyaka ZaNorte’s grand finale on June 12, 2010.
