We are pleased to inform you that the 3rd Farm Tourism Conference with the theme “Healthy Soils for a Healthy Life” in support of the United Nations (UN) declaration of 2015 as the International Year of Soils (IYS) will be held on July 1-3, 2015 at Batis Aramin Resort and Hotel, Lucban, Quezon Province, Philippines.
Farm Tourism is the business of attracting visitors and travelers to farm areas, generally for educational and recreational purposes that encourages economic activity and can provide both farm and community income. Due to economic hardships and changes in the farming and livestock industries across the globe, many farmers-especially those with small, family-owned farms-have found they must supplement their business model and explore new ways of generating income.
Farm tourism not only educates visitors to farm products in an area it also highlights our culture and traditions while being entertained. Together with the Municipality of Lucban in cooperation with the Province of Quezon, the Department of Tourism (DOT), International School of Sustainable Tourism (ISST), and the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), we have prepared a fantastic array of specialists who will cover the various topics of the program.
This conference will help create and support the UN declaration by:
Ø Helping promote tourism and farm products and other goods manufactured by rural industries;
Ø Showing that integration of tourism and farming will allow better and more efficient use of resources that will provide jobs, increase income and business opportunities and reduce urban migration in rural communities;
Ø Promoting full awareness of all stakeholders about the fundamental roles of soils for human life; and
Ø Supporting to achieve full recognition of the prominent contributions of soils to food security and nutrition, climate change adaptation and mitigation, essential ecosystem services, poverty alleviation and sustainable development.
In line with this, we would like to invite you to join us in this 3rd Farm Tourism Conference to be held in Batis Aramin Resort and Hotel, Province of Quezon. The conference is composed of local and foreign specialists who will cover the various topics of the program.
